Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Convention Peoples’ Party (CPP), Mr. Samuel Kwabena Danso, has called on the Government to revamp industries established by Ghana’s first President, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
He cited the Jute and Shoe factories in Kumasi, the Asutuare Sugar factory, Bonsa Tyre factory, Kade biscuit factory and Bolgatanga meat factory, which have all collapsed.
The CPP Regional Chairman in an interview with GNA in Kumasi on the achievements of Dr Nkrumah said: “if the Government because of financial constraints cannot get these factories running again, it should invite private investors”.
Mr Danso said the revival of these industries would not only increase Ghana’s foreign exchange earnings but also offer job openings to the large army of unemployed youth.
According to him, “if past governments had recognized the legacy of Dr Nkrumah, things would have been better than they are today.”
Mr Danso added that the Centenary Celebration of Dr Nkrumah’s birthday calls for unity within the CPP, which was founded and led by the first President to enable the party to re-capture power.
He appealed to the youth of this country to join the CPP because their future depends on the fortunes of the party.
Mr Danso asked Ghanaians to exercise restraint with the National Democratic Congress Government so that it could have adequate time to implement its development agenda.
