Government may return to the negotiation table this week with the leadership of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association.
CLOGSAG members have held nationwide protests after the technical committee mandated to negotiate with them stopped its sittings in June.
Both the government and the Fair Wages Commission maintained that CLOGSAG does not have the right to negotiate for better conditions.
Now the committee comprising the Fair Wages Commission, representatives of the finance and employment ministries and the leadership of CLOGSAG has agreed to meet this week.
"The meeting will reconvene and continue with the discussions which they have been holding for some time," Edward Foli, CLOGSAG President told Joy News.
He was optimistic a favourable response will be arrived at.
Mr. Foli said the leadership of CLOGSAG will also push for a better placement of their members on the new pay policy.
