Hundreds of students from the country’s universities and polytechnics have been deployed across the country to undertake environmental sanitation campaign and clean-up. The campaign will take the students to all districts, municipal and metropolitan assemblies to educate the public on activities that contribute to congestion on the road and filth in those localities. The campaign is part of a holiday paid internship for the students. Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Akwasi Oppong-Ofosu tells Joy News government will no longer tolerate undue politicization in the latest crackdown. Places to be affected include the Kasoa highway and the Nsawma-Nkawnkaw bypass. “Because of the congestion and the delay in moving through these major cities, now people are building along these bypasses. What kind of people are we? You go and clear them and you get people supporting them that they spent money in putting up those buildings...we can’t go on like that.”
