Government has resolved to intensify efforts to deal with fake drugs that flood the Ghanaian market, Dr George Sipa
Yankey, Minister of Health, said on Thursday.
He said the government is also exploring ways of cooperation with development partners to combat the drug menace.
The Minister made this known when the United States Ambassador to Ghana, Mr. Donald Teitelbaum, paid a courtesy call on him to congratulate him on his appointment and to discuss possible areas of cooperation between the United State Government and Ghana.
The two discussed support for the HIV/AIDS programme and the initiative by Former President Bush to help Ghana and other African countries deal with malaria.
Dr Yankey said he was resolved to help reduce the incidence of malaria from the Ghanaian society and expressed the hope that the two countries could work together to help improve health care in Ghana.
Mr Teitelbaum said it was important that the society, especially the vulnerable was protected from illnesses since diseases did not know boundaries and could affect anyone.
