One of the standout fixtures for week two of the Ghana Premier League (GPL) is the game between Berekum Chelsea and Dreams FC.
The Berekum Golden City Park will be the venue when both teams lock horns, in what is expected to be a very thrilling encounter for the neutrals.
The home side lost their opening game of the season against Bashir Hayford’s Ebusua dwarfs and are looking for a quick return to winning ways.
However, standing in their way is a Dreams FC side that have proven that they mean business following their promotion to the top flight. The Dawu-based side emerged winners of the GHALCA G8 pre-season tournament, having beaten giants Hearts of Oak in the final.
The newly-promoted side also won their opening game of the season after coasting to a narrow 1-0 win over Elmina Sharks and will be hoping to make it two wins from two when they visit the Golden City Park on Sunday.
Berekum Chelsea have managed to make their home ground a fortress in recent years and rarely do teams go there and return with the three maximum points.
With this in mind, the Blues will start as favourites despite Dreams FC being the team in a better form. Berekum Chelsea will, however, be wary of the quality and experienced options that Dreams FC have on their bench.
The Dawu-based side boast of a veteran, yet influential, players like Eric Gawu and ex-Kotoko goalie Isaac Amoako in their ranks, with the former, in particular, proving he has still got what it takes to thrive in the Ghanaian topflight.
Both Berekum Chelsea and Dreams FC may be far from title challengers, but the race for the top four is still wide open and winning points from such games could prove to be valuable at the end of the season.
For the home side nothing less than a win will appeasing, but Dreams could do with a draw as they currently sit third on the league log.
