A Tarkwa Circuit Court has granted a 26 years old taxi driver, Amo Blankson 5,000 Ghana Cedis bail when he appeared before it charged with assaulting his 51 years old grandfather.
He pleaded not guilty and will re-appear before the court on February 2, 2011. The victim, Nana Yaw Bediako is the Sub-Chief of Atieku Akyepim.
Prosecuting Chief Inspector Edward Paddy Teddy told the court presided over by Mr Samuel Obeng Diawuo that the accused person on November 11 2010 attacked his grandfather in his house at about 10:00 hours while he was reading newspapers and in the presence of some relatives - Auntie Alice, Aba Yaa and Sis Ekua.
Inspector Paddy said Blankson without any provocation slapped the Chief and hit him on the face with a bucket and he bled from both the nose and the mouth.
He said the victim collapsed. When he was revived Blankson took a stick and started chasing the victim with it but a Policeman, who chanced upon the situation, intervened and took the two to the Police station.
