Great Olympics will not be relegated at end of season despite disastrous start to the new Ghana Premier League season, according to board member Fred Pappoe.
The Wonder club have been tipped to make a swift return to the GN Bank Division One League should they continue with their disappointing displays which has accounted for no wins after five rounds.
They are bottom on the standings, having picked only two points from a possible 15.
There already has been speculation about big-name coaches such as Tom Strand replacing player-coach Godwin Attram but Pappoe claims board have no intention of sacking Attram .
“Supporters and board members have been making suggestions on who to play and who not to play. It is natural for us to suggest players to him. I’m a board member of Great Olympics and so, if I see a player, I can suggest to the coach,” he stated.
“That is the whole issue, there is no problem between Godwin Attram and the board or management. I will, therefore, call on the media to report accurate news and be circumspect in what they report.”
“Where were Aduana Stars after six games last season and where did they finish at the end of the season? True, we have a problem and it’s work in progress [but] Olympics will survive and we will not be relegated,” he assured.
They face an uphill task this weekend against city rivals Hearts of Oak who are also desperate for points.
