The Greater Accra constituency executives of the Conventions People’s Party are calling on the national leadership to organize presidential primaries before the year ends.
Speaking at a news conference in Accra on Tuesday, the executives expressed dismay at the decision of the party executives to elect the flagbearer for the party next year.
The new party Chair, Samia Nkrumah hinted the party would elect a flagbearer in March 2012, the same year the country would be holding its Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
But the Greater Accra executives of the party argue that would not be in the supreme interest of the party.
Constituency Secretary of Okaikwei North, Mohammed Yakubu said the party executive will be in gross violation of the party’s constitution if they do not organise an election before the year ends.
He said the executives would be sabotaging the party if they fail to organise congress to elect a new flagbearer.
