A wedding ceremony at Aldersgate Methodist Church at West Anaji in the Sekondi/Takoradi metropolis on Saturday ended abruptly after policemen besieged the church premises to arrest the groom.
The arrest is in connection with a robbery case at Aniamote, in the Wassa Amenfi District in the Western region where the suspect, Aaron Ackah, is alleged to have robbed a small scale Chinese miner of ¢18,000.
Ackah, 30, is reported to have inflicted knife wounds on the victim's left hand.
According to sources, the couple had just completed the exchange of vows and the officiating minister was just about to usher them into the wearing of rings when two plain clothed police officers detailed from Bogoso suddenly entered to whisked the groom away.
The police officers used one of the invitation cards to confirm the suspect's identity.
The joy and excitement that had filled the venue of the ceremony was cut short as many of the awe stricken guests started weeping and wailing.
The bride, Rebecca Buah was reported to have collapsed after the arrest.
The suspect has since been taken to Prestea for further investigation.
