Ekwunife Okoli, MD of Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited has reminded business organizations that they have have a duty to help communities in which they operate and contribute to economic development.
He emphasized that corporate social responsibility is part of business strategy.
He said however that this strategy “relies on our ability to integrate CSR into the business. This can be done by identifying and supporting CSR projects that create shared value for Diageo and society.
“New initiatives should support global and regional value creating priorities and stakeholder engagement is integral for validating potential societal impact. Our efforts should extend beyond our operations, including Customer partnerships; Consumer engagement and Supplier management.”
Ekwunife Okoli said sustainability and responsibility cannot be the sole responsibility of Government but that all stakeholders of the society must be accountable.
Chairman of the 2011 Accountants Conference, Nana Owusu-Afari, who is also President of the Association of Ghana Industries, was grateful to the Guinness boss for the insights he shared at the session.
