Police in Ejisu in the Ashanti Region are holding a fetish priest after unidentified gun men shot another fetish priest and two of his clients at a shrine at Banso near Ejisu-Besease.
The deceased fetish priest, 23-year-old Bernard Alazi George, also known as George Abugre, sustained gunshot wounds which have disfigured his face.
His clients, Walter Bantamire and Badimah Saah aged 22 and 25 respectively also died from multiple gunshot wounds.
But police are tight-lipped about the identity of the suspect, another fetish priest in the Ejisu-Besease municipality, who is said to be helping police with investigations.
The shooting comes less than a month after a fetish priest, Nana Obinnim Asare and his secretary, Owusu Asare were murdered at Kwahu-Besease in the Eastern Region by some of his clients.
It is not clear what influenced the latest attacks on the fetish priest and his two clients.
However, the onslaught, which occurred at about 11:40 p.m Friday has been described as brutal, by police.
They retrieved six spent cartridges believed to have been fired from AK 47 assault rifles.
A resident close to where the incident occurred said he heard gunshots but was afraid to go out during that ungodly hour.
The lifeless bodies of the victims, lying in a pool of blood were discovered hours after the assailants had fled.
Ejisu District Commander, Superintendent Stephen Kwasi Kwakye has appealed to the general public to assist the police by volunteering information.
