Black Stars striker Asamoah Gyan is distraught over an injury that forced him out of the penultimate Nation’s Cup qualifier against Swaziland at the Ohene Gyan Sports Stadium, Friday.
The Stars cruised to a 2-0 victory with the Sunderland hit-man scoring shortly before he was pulled out of the game.
Gyan pulled a thigh sprain and was stretched off in the dying embers of the first half.
He told Myjoyonline.com shortly after the game that the injury is a severe blow to him, the Black Stars and Sunderland.
“The injury has spoilt my confidence. Because I haven’t scored for quite a long time so today was to prove myself. I had a goal. I was feeling happy for the goal but it is really a big blow for me and my club as well as the Black Stars [to have gotten injured]. I am really sad at the moment,” he said.
It is however too soon to determine the seriousness of the injury.
Gyan said he is not too sure if could feature in the game against Brazil and needed to undertake a few test to ascertain the seriousness of the injury.
He was however elated with the 2-0 victory by the Stars insisting victory was all that was needed.
