President John Mahama is set to make major changes at the Flagstaff House soon, a move that will see several big names replaced, according to the Daily Guide newspaper.
The local newspaper reports in the February 4 edition that the impending shake-up at the Presidency is a prelude to a ministerial and cabinet reshuffle, originally scheduled for the last quarter of 2014 but was put on hold for unknown reasons.
"Already, the changes have led to the exit of the Executive Secretary to the President, Dr Raymond Atuguba, and more heads are expected to roll in the coming days", the paper’s banner headline read.
Myjoyonline.com attempts to establish contact with some of the names being circulated for verification proved futile. For instance, a call made to Raymond Atuguba Wednesday morning was responded by an 'automatic' text message: "Thanks for your call/text. I am on leave from the Office of the President of Ghana (OoP). For OoP business please contact the Chief of Staff..."
Some of the top names expected to be removed from post, according to the paper includes Senior Communications Advisor to the President, Ben Dotsei Malor.
Also, Dr Kwesi Botchwey, Chairman of the Ghana Gas Company and a former Finance Minister, was also named by the newspaper that claims its sources are well placed in government.
"Enquiries sent to government officials drew blank responses at press time, as they remain tight-lipped", the paper said.
