Health Minister Dr. Kwaku Agyemang Mensah is calling on striking health workers to call off their action to save the lives of innocent Ghanaians.
Doctors, nurses and other health workers are part of public sector workers across the country who have declared a strike in protest over government's decision to manage their second tier pension funds.
The Health Minister has cancelled an official trip to China and has been meeting and convincing health workers to rescind their decision.
Dr. Kwaku Agyemang Mensah told Joy News' Seth Kwame Boateng strike is not the panacea to the issue at stake.
"I had a meeting with the union just to learn from them the issues and i have appealed to them that the government will study the issues but then they have to go back to work.
"They assured me that they will take the case to the group," after which a final decision will be made.
He said there cannot be a negotiation when workers are on strike.
"So the first thing is for them to go back to work so that we resolve the issues," he insisted.
