Hearts Managing Director, Vincent Odotei Sowah grabbed his first home win over Kotoko in eight years after Vincent Atinga's penalty gave the Phobians a narrow 1-0 win over their rivals.
While the Phobian faithfuls were rejoicing an end to the jinx, the MP for La-Dadekotopon and Deputy Minister of Information nominee announced an end to his reign as the Managing Director of the club
“I’ve decided to let go my position as the head but I’m not leaving the club, I’m just changing my role because operationally I will not be able to combine it with other things but I will still hold my position in the management board, and continue to work behind the scene," Odotei Sowah told Asempa Sports.
“I love this club and its fans so much, I’m sure they are elated today because last Wednesday we disappointed them but I thank them for coming to cheer the players on in this game.”

In the wake of this, names have begun to emerge as potential candidates to replace the outgoing MD but the most prominent among the names is former Kotoko chief executive, Herbert Mensah.
Reports indicate the majority shareholder of the club, Togbe Afede XIV, has contacted the current president of the Ghana Rugby Association to replace Vincent Odotei Sowah.
Mr Mensah was noted for making Kotoko more attractive with the club gaining lucrative sponsorship deals.
