The West African Examination Council has been ordered by an Accra High Court to release the results of 20 candidates whose papers were cancelled after the 2017 Basic Education Certification Examinations.
The candidates had their results cancelled after WAEC claimed they had colluded to cheat during the exams. But, they the dragged examination council to court accusing it of breaching their fundamental human rights.
Proprietor of the A to Z Preparatory JHS Godwin Aaron Monyo told JoyNews the cancellation of the paper dented the school's reputation.
"It was a trauma" the proprietor said explaining some parents withdrew their children from the school after news of the results cancellation spread.
It is not clear if these students are part of 1,298 candidates whose results were witheld by WAEC in August 2017 on suspicion of examination malpractices.
These 1,298 candidates were found to have cheated in the objective test section of the examination by the Item Differentia Profile (IDP) software.
