The winner of the maiden edition of Hitz FM’s reality show Hitz Discovery, Ernest Ankomah popularly known as Belbonfly has indicated that the reality show offered him the opportunity to showcase his talent to the public.
Speaking with Lexisbill on DayBreak Hitz, Belbonfly said coming this far has not been easy for him and he really appreciates the fact that he won the reality show and has been able to release some singles which are currently being played on most radio stations in the country.
He disclosed that he got into music through his mother who was also a musician but never had the opportunity to release an album. Whilst listening to his mum most of the time, he developed an interest for music and decided to watch her mum whenever she sings.
He disclosed that Hilife musician Nana Acheampong was his favourite artiste growing up and loved his music. He added that he does not know anything apart from music and that is what his life is all about.
To improve his talent, he joined music bands to improve on his singing skills. While playing with the bands, he heard about Hiplife music. He mentioned in particular Reggie Rockstone’s hit song Agoo which made him decide to join the Hiplife bandwagon.
Asked why it took him so long to get into the music industry full time, Belbonfly said he believes there is time for everything so he wanted to take his time to release a hit song like other artistes and that is why he decided to move from Tarkwa to Accra to further his music career.
Moving to Accra he started working with Qwik Action who advised him to join the Hitz Discovery Reality show and the rest is history as they say.
Being an only child, Belbonfly disclosed that he wouldn’t have been in Accra if it was not about music and once he is here, he is ready to work very hard to achieve success.
Belbonfly currently has two singles to his credit: Kete ft Tic Tac and Dreams inside ft D’Cryme which are from his forthcoming album.
He says the public should expect more singles from him featuring renowned artistes such as Kwabena Kwabena, Kwaadee and more.
He added that he is planning to shoot a video for his singles so the public will get to know the face behind the songs.
