HMD Global, home of Nokia phones has presented a brand new Nokia 5 smartphone running on Android OS to the winner of the Nokia smartphone Kwese TV EPL competition.
General Manager West, East and Central Africa of HMD Global, Mr. Joseph Umunakwe, as well as representatives from Kwese TV made the presentation to Michael Ankonu, a loyal viewer of Kwese TV’s English Premier League show in Accra.
Expressing the company’s motivation behind the Nokia smartphone EPL competition, Mr Umunakwe said “It’s important to us that our customers understand how Nokia smartphones can enhance every aspect of their lives, including sports. Our range of smartphones on Android have great specs that football lovers can use to follow all their favorite teams and sport action. It made sense to us to work with Kwese TV to reward a loyal viewer.”
The competition was held as part of a Nokia smartphone takeover on the Kwese TV English Premier League show presented by ace sports journalist, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah. On the hugely popular Saturday afternoon show, the presenter reviewed the Nokia 5 smartphone device and encouraged viewers to share their match day predictions and features of the phone on their social media platforms, Twitter, Facebook and WhatsApp to stand a chance of winning the device and Nokia mobile merchandise. At the end of the match between Liverpool and West Ham, Kwese TV selected the winner out of thousands of entries across the platforms.
On his part, winner Michael Ankonu whose social media handle is @lordgizo on Twitter, said he was happy to win the Nokia phone. “I am thankful to Nokia and Kwese TV for the opportunity. I love my new Nokia 5 smartphone running on Android,” he said.
Adelaide Crentsil, Key Account Manager for Kwese TV said, “We’re always looking for opportunities to engage our loyal viewers and this partnership with HMD Global was just the right move. We look forward to a continued relationship with HMD Global to bring our viewers even better sports programming.”
Viewers of Kwese TV’s EPL show will this weekend get to see videos and photos of the HMD Global presentation ceremony.
Last year HMD Global, the home of Nokia phones launched the new range of Nokia phones on Android operating systems. From affordable entry-level handsets to powerhouse top-end superphones, each phone is suited to a different sort of user, with dual-sim versions on offer. The company has kept what many people loved about the brand – high quality externals, nicely optimised hardware, and plenty of care and attention put into the audiovisual and camera experiences with the jewel in the crown being the Android software.
