The Editor-in-chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper has warned detractors that he will fight off any attempt to destroy him and his partner Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
Abdul Malik Kweku Baako Jnr was responding to allegations of crime and corruption levelled against him and the investigative journalist by an outspoken legislator for Assin Central Kennedy Agyapong.
Starting with the claims that Anas’ company has been evading tax, Mr Baako said the audited accounts of Finance Pharma Limited from 2011-2016 does not show any such circumvention.
The veteran journalist told Peace FM’s Kokrokoo host Kwame Sefa Kayi that tax clearance from the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) does not show any evasion.

Mr Agyapong also sought to know the source of Anas’ wealth arguing that working only as a journalist should not allow him to obtain certain properties in the capital.
But Mr Baako scoffed at the claims saying, the Ghanaian Constitution does bar any individual citizen or foreigner from acquiring a property legally.
“If a citizen has acquired a property or properties and you think it was as a result of criminal proceeds, you are free to go to the police,” he said.

He showed the host documents of a court ruling from the Supreme Court from last year in which someone challenged one of Anas’s properties and the journalist won.
According to Mr Baako, there is nothing like stealing someone’s land when the court has already pronounced on the issue.
“All the documents I am showing you have Anas’ name and signature on them so it is not as if it is hidden…it is not someone holding the properties on his behalf,” he stated.
Mr Baako also rejected Mr Agyapong’s attempts to unmask or reveal the true identity of Anas Aremeyaw Anas by releasing pictures on his TV station Net 2 on Wednesday.
He said none of the images shown on the station comes close to what the undercover journalist looks like.
