Mr Samuel Kweku Obodai, Member of Parliament for Agona West has urged Ghanaians to ignore political leaders who doubt the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) free Senior High School (SHS) educational policy.
He said a free SHS is possible and appealed to Ghanaians to vote Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo into power on December 7, to enable him implement the programme.
Mr Obodai said this during the presentation of a 7,000 Mega Watt Generator plant worth GHC5,000, to the Agona Otsenkorang Health Center on Friday to improve health delivery in the area.
The generating plant was procured from his share of Health Insurance Fund.
He said Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP have the capacity and confidence to efficiently implement all policies and programmes enshrined in the party’s manifesto.
The MP said education is an essential vessel to improve quality living standards.
He also said he had voted an amount of GHC15,000 from his share of the MP’s Common Fund to the Agona West Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES) for mock examinations and other motivations for teachers.
“This is to adequately prepare final year students of Junior High School (JHS) in the Municipality,” he added.
On health, Mr Obodai said he assisted a total of 818 people to register with the National Health Insurance Scheme to enable them enjoy affordable quality health services.
Dr Nii Adjei Adjetey, Agona West Municipal Director of Health Services, who received the generator, thanked the MP for the gesture and hoped that it would help nurses and other paramedical staff to discharge their duties effectively.
He said health centres in the Municipality are facing numerous challenges and called on the Agona West Assembly and the MP to support the Directorate to improve quality of health delivery.
Ms Grace Emefa Ameka, Midwife in Charge of the Otsenkorang Health Centre said the generator would help reduce risks during night duties and also improve health services at the centre.
