An incumbent Member of Parliament has lost his seat in the ongoing primaries of the opposition New Patriotic Party.

MP for Upper Denkyira West, Benjamin Kofi Ayeh, was beaten by more than 100 votes in the primaries.

The former second deputy minority chief whip polled 115 votes whilst his contender Samuel Nsowah Gyan polled 222.

Central Regional correspondent Richard Kojo Nyarko said the supporters of the defeated MP had their hearts broken whilst the supporters of the victor were in absolute frenzy.

In Accra incumbent MP for Tema East Titus Glover had a close shave beating his contender by just 49 votes.

In the Ashanti Region Erastus Asare Donkor reported that only Adansi Akrofuom constituency held its primaries with the incumbent MP, Appiah Pinkrah polling 176 votes as against 92 by his contender Charles Korankye.

But the incumbent MP had a strong message for the national executives of the party.

He is asking the party leadership not to leave individuals at the polling station level to fund election 2016 on their own.

Pinkrah said he went through a lot to fund the two last elections on his own and wants the national executives to support individual MP aspirants.

In the Ejisu-Juaben Constituency, NPP delegates there were left angry and disappointed when parliamentary primary poll failed to come off again, despite withdrawal of a court case by an aggrieved member.

But Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako apologized to the delegates and promised the primaries will come off next weekend.

In the Western region, candidates for the Bia East and Bia West were acclaimed. The Akontombra elections did not come off as one of the aspirants secured a court injunction. But in the Juaboso constituency, Martha Manu beat Solomon Donkor to win the primaries.

In the Northern Region however, there was drama when winner of the Sawla Tuna Kalba NPP primary, James Kipo Sunyenzi broke down in tears when he presented his victory speech.

Martina Bugri reported that Mr Sunyenzi was emotional when he was commenting on a colleague NPP member who had on previous occasions won the NPP race but failed to win  the seat.

He said that member had been bedridden for some time now and hoped that like Joshua he would be able to take the Sawla NPP to the promise land which is Parliament.

In all nine primaries were supposed to have been held in the delayed NPP parliamentary polls.
