Minister of Information, Mr John Tia Akologo, on Friday commended MTN for presenting an amount of GH¢30,114.08 to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) towards the refurbishment of the agency's newsroom in Accra.
This followed an appeal by the Communication Workers Union (CWU) of GNA to MTN to help improve the agency’s working environment.
The project involves the construction of alucobard and cubicle, supply of swivel chairs and office desks and installation of air conditioners.
Others are carpentry works, painting, polishing of the floor, the refurbishment of the pantry as well as the provision of dining tables, chairs and a cabinet.
The minister made the commendation when the GNA Board of Directors paid a visit to him at his office.
In March this year, the Minister visited GNA after assumption of office and discussed issues including the means to improve the performance of the Agency, which is the only wire service in the country to enable it continue with the important role of educating Ghanaians and the world at large.
The delegation was led by Dr Anthony Bonnah Koomson, Board Chairman. Others were Ms Ajoa Yeboah Afari, Board member, Nana Appau Duah, General Manager, and Mr Francis Rex Annan, Board Secretary and Administrative Manager.
