National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu-Ampofoh,has tasked members, supporters and well wishers of the party to intensify their campaign at all levels for the party to regain power next year.
He said the NDC was prepared more than ever to wrest power from the ruling NPP, come 2008 general elections to correct the mistakes committed by NPP.
Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo was addressing members of the University of Education, Winneba branch of the Tertiary Educational Institution Network (TEIN) of the NDC.
He described the Youth In Employment Programme under which a sizeable number of unemployed school leavers were being trained to take up teaching and auxiliary nursing appointments as "a waste of scarce national resources."
Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo said that a critical appraisal of the NPP’s seven years rule indicated that the party did not have the right panacea for the socio-economic problems confronting the nation.
He has therefore charged members, supporters and all well wishers of the NDC to do away with their petty differences and unite for the progress of the party, especially to enable them to win next year’s presidential and parliamentary elections.
Haruna Iddrisu, MP for Tamale Central and National Youth Organiser of the NDC, charged TEIN executives in the country’s tertiary institutions to educate their colleagues of different political persuasions on the aims and objectives of the NDC so that they could win them for the NDC.
Mr. Iddrisu hinted NDC’s plans to re-open investigations on the ‘Hotel Kufuor’ saga if the party wins next year’s elections.
Samuel Yaw Sukah, outgoing TEIN President at the University, called for a sustained unity and team spirit to move TEIN and the party forward.
Mr. Sukah recalled successes chalked by TEIN in the past couple of years, and expressed the hope that the new set of executive officers would follow suit to enhance the image of the party.
