Ghana Midfielder Isaac Coffie says he is ready to fight for a place in the Black Stars team after receiving his maiden call up to the team for next month's matches against Malawi and Liberia.
The 20 year old midfielder who plays for Italian Serie A side Chievo Verona was a surprised inclusion in a 24-man squad released by Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah on Tuesday ahead of team’s 2013 Nations Cup qualifier against Malawi and an international friendly with Liberia next month.
The former Genoa play maker is delighted with his shock call-up into the national team for next month’s double header and is hoping to make an instant impact.
“Playing for the Black Stars is the highest level for me so I’m very happy for the call up”. He told JOY Sports
“As a Ghanaian and a professional player I was expecting it because I have been working for this and I think the call up came at the right time. I’m going to work hard and stay in but I will leave everything to the coach”.
The Black Stars will play Malawi in Accra on September 8 before travelling to Monrovia three days later to play Liberia in an international friendly.
