Counsellor and president of Diamond Pillars Women's Ministry, Charlene Quaye says it is good for males to be vulnerable to their female partners.

She ascribed her opinion to the fact that most men find it offensive to be susceptible to their relationships.

The majority of men, especially in Africa, believe that being emotionally open with their spouses makes them not respected in society since men are generally considered to be stronger and more powerful than women and capable of handling their personal difficulties.

Speaking on Joy Prime’s Morning Show on Thursday, the Counsellor explained that the mentality of men refusing to communicate to their emotions to their partners is the reason suicide rate among men is high.

"It’s important to be vulnerable to your partner and not bottle up your emotions. This is why we have so many men committing suicide because they feel they can’t voice out," she indicated.

She cautioned men not to give in when their spouses insist on being hit before having sex with them.

She said, "It is a psychological problem."

Also, it is believed that women tend to be attracted to tough and resilient men, which is one of the major contributing factors to men failing to be emotionally honest with their partners.

Speaking on the show, Maud Ewoenam Agbemafle, who is a student and entrepreneur, sees men who share their feelings to be more attractive.

"I think that we should get to a point where we understand that we are humans and men are humans. Men should be allowed to express themselves," she mentioned.

She thinks women who want their fiancées to be tough are the ones who did not experienced their fathers' acts while growing up.

Hence, they expect their boyfriends to fill the gap by exhibiting that toughness towards them.

She said, "All men can’t be the same," and it will be advisable for the lady to quit if she is not getting her expectations met from the man rather than forcing him to satisfy them.

Miss Maud Ewoenam feels it contributes to the increasing rate of depression among soft men as they feel despised.

However, she is confident that if men are allowed to express themselves, the world will be a better and interesting place to live.
