John Barnes, former England international, on Monday, commenced a three-day football clinic for Under-16 players at the El Wak Stadium, Accra.
Over 70 young players, some accompanied by their parents gathered at the El Wak Stadium for the three hour football clinic, which saw the children going through basic football skills.
The players were taken through ball work, dribbling skills, accurate passing, aerial work and minor fitness exercises.
The clinic was later extended to other players older than 16 years who also took the opportunity to learn some basic skills from the football legend.
Barnes, also one of the most renowned players of English Premier League side, Liverpool in the 80’s was assisted by former captain of the senior national team, the Black Stars Joseph Addo.
Barnes told the GNA Sports that he was impressed with the output of the participants.
According the football legend, the young players demonstrated excellent football skills and was confident they could be nurtured to become great players in future.
Barnes, who is in Ghana to support the Retired National Footballers Association of Ghana (RENFAG), in a Fundraising and Dinner Dance on Saturday, July 30, at the Banquet Hall, State House, will hold a similar exercise on Thursday, July 28 and Friday, July 29, at the same venue and later call on the Chiefs and people of the Dormaa Traditional Area in the Brong Ahafo Region.Source: GNA
