rLG Communications, a mobile phone assembling company has adopted the Mother of Mercy Babies Home at Sirigu, in the Upper East Region.
The intervention follows Joy FM’s recent Hotline documentary highlighting the plight of destitute children at the Orphanage.
This is yet another case of radio getting the results.
The documentary exposes the practice where children whose mothers die after giving birth to them are ritually murdered because they are believed to be evil children.
The Orphanage is filled with children who have escaped this horror.
As part of its package, rLG donated items worth GHS5,000 to the Home and has pledged a monthly support of GHS1,500.
Group Chief Executive of rLG Communications, Mr Roland Agambire said the company, touched by the documentary was determined to help alleviate the precarious situation of the inmates of the orphanage as well as members of the Sirigu community generally.
Consistent with this objective, rLG, he said, organized a health outreach programme where members of the community were screened and treated for various ailments.
