The gold winning feat at this year’s all Africa games in Brazzaville was the highest point for Ghana tennis.
Despite tough preparatory conditions, the pair of George Darko and Wisdom Na – Adjrago annexed Gold medal in the Men’s Doubles finals as they defeated DR.Congo 6-4, 6-4 at the Massamba Debat court.
It was a somewhat good year for male number one seed George Darko who amongst others won the 2015 Macdan Tennis Championship at the Accra stadium in April.
The four finalists in the both male and female divisions were however denied visas by the Spanish embassy and missed out on the prize package to undergo training in Spain for the Davies Cup.
The team comprising of George Darko, Wisdon Na-Adjrago, Japheth Anwasiba Bagerbaseh, Pascal Ziyab Alome and captain Joseph Acquah however had to settle for training in Morocco but failed to qualify to the Euro-African Zone II in the Davis Cup following 3-0 defeats to Algeria and Namibia in Egypt.
Tennis had no problems this year with affiliations fees to its mother body and will hope to stay in the good books next years.
The sport in its bid to promote competition held a couple of championships including the National ranking tournament and the recently held Senior tennis competition.
