Ghana and JoyNews’ distinguished environmental journalist, Erasmus Asare Donkor was among hundreds of Ghanaian citizens who were honoured at the 2024 National Honours and Awards ceremony to recognize individuals who have contributed immensely to national development at a colourful event at the Accra International Conference Centre in Accra on Monday, December 30.

Erastus Asare Donkor was decorated with the ‘Order of the Volta’ for his exemplary journalism that mainly focused on the devastating impact of illegal mining on Ghana's water bodies and forest reserves.
The award, the second highest honour in the country, was bestowed upon him in recognition of his tireless efforts to expose the destructive activities of illegal miners and his unwavering commitment to championing the fight against environmental degradation.
