Parliament will today decide on a report by the Privileges Committee on investigations into contempt against Professor Alex Dodoo and broadcaster, Abubakar Ahmed, popularly known as Blakk Rasta.
The two have already appeared before the committee over comments they made on radio deemed by the law makers as an affront to the dignity of the House.
Professor Doodo, who is Chairman of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Collaborating Centre for Pharmaco-Vigilance, is said to have described the legislators as ignorant when they spoke on the suspended Ebola vaccine trial in the Volta Region.
Blakk Rasta also claimed during a radio interview that 80 percent of Parliamentarians smoke marijuana or weed.
When they appeared before the Privileges Committee they both apologized profusely for their comments.
Emmanuel Bedzrah, who is a member of the Privileges Committee, told Joy News MPs are taking comments made by the Professor Dodoo and Blakk Rasta seriously.
According to him, the legislature has a mandate to protect its integrity.
“The Parliamentary Act (Act 300)…gives Parliament the power; where the Privileges Committee or where Parliament thinks that a stranger is in contempt to order the Attorney General to prosecute that person”, he said.
Professor Dodoo and Blakk Rasta may choose to be represented by their counsels when MPs sit to pass judgement on their comments at noon on Thursday.
