Management of the Kaneshie Polyclinic has indicted officials known to have extorted monies from desperate patients who patronized the facility.
This comes three months after Joy News investigations revealed that some security men at the facility turned themselves into middlemen and sneaked patients’ folders to doctors in exchange for money.
Also, Public health nurses at the polyclinic employed witty ways of charging patients after administering tetanus injections which are supposed to be free for patients.
Hospital authorities after the report have banned the Disease Control Department of the Public Health there from administering tetanus injection to patients.
Medical Director of the clinic, Dr Amoh Mensah, tells Joy News' Kwetey Nartey who revealed the plight of the patients that there have been significant changes in the arrangement of how folders get to doctors.
He said a new system had been put in place to ensure that only approved nurses have access to the folder of patients.
According to him, every patient is made to go through the required process at the hospital without regard to what their relationship with officials there was.
Dr Mensah also confirmed that security men, who took monies from patients, have been duly punished sanctioned.
One had his salary denied for a month and the other had his end of year benefit for last year cancelled. They have also been giving warning letters.
The public health nurse, who was also known to take a bottle of Malt beverage from patients, has also been queried.
She has been stopped from administering tetanus injection to patients.
Dr Mensah said his facility will not relent in its efforts to render improved quality health care services to its clients in and around the area.
