Sekondi-based Kessben FC on Sunday chalked a lone goal victory over Dansoman-Liberty Professionals in their week three Glo Premiership clash at the Ohene Djan Stadium, Accra.
Hans Kwofie scored the only goal of the match after 54 minutes to hand his side a deserved victory as they maintained their hundred percent record in the three week old lead.
Liberty, enduring one of their worst starts since joining the elite division over a decade ago, failed to sparkle yet again as they were outplayed by the visitors.
Kessben played confidently and backed by their vociferous traveling fans, Liberty were far from their ‘Scientific Soccer lads’ accolade.
From the blast of the referee’s whistle, it was the visitors who took absolute control of proceedings and it was only a matter of time that the opener would come.
Their offensive midfielder Issah Salihu however fumbled with several of the chances that came their way, thus compelling coach Bashir Hayford to replace him with Joe Pau Asante.
When the second half got underway, Kessben continued to raid the Liberty half and nine minutes into the half, Kwofie struck home with a shot that left Liberty goalie Akwasi Acheampong with no answers as he was stranded in his strides.
On 68 minutes, the upright came to Liberty’s rescue as Richard Mpong’s goal bound shot failed to hit the net following a swift combination with Kwofie.
Liberty gradually came into the picture as they exhausted their substitutions with the introduction of Kevin Koaukou, Ofoe Ofotsu and Abubakar Swalla but their presence could not change the tide.
