Footy-ghana.com can exclusively reveal that AC Milan midfielder Kevin Prince Boateng has ended his retirement from international football.
According to our highly placed sources, government sent a delegation to meet with Boateng in Germany a few months ago and in the course of the discussions, Boateng explained to the mediators that because of a chronic ankle condition, he gets extra treatment before playing matches for AC Milan and so he requested for permission to bring his own physiotherapist for Ghana games in order to play well.
Footy-ghana.com understands that Boateng had made this request in the past but the Ghana Football Association initially refused, fearing that it would set a bad precedent in camp.
Footy-ghana.com can confirm that the GFA hierarchy has changed its stance over the issue, paving the way for Boateng to end his international exile.
Footy-ghana.com understands that the former Germany youth international would have made himself available for the match against Sudan in Kumasi, but got injured playing for AC Milan before the squad was named, ruling him out for three weeks.
Footy-ghana.com sighted a text message Kevin prince Boateng sent to a friend at the time which reads, “I personally called the GFA President. I will officially write to dem on ma comeback, sorri tu all football loving Ghanaians, tanx to Mr. Boateng Gyan NDC executive n family friend, KP.”
Boateng will thus be available for selection for Ghana’s 2014 World Cup qualifier against Zambia. His last match for the Black Stars was in early 2011 in a 2012 African Nations Cup qualifier against Congo Brazzaville in Kumasi.
