Schalke 04 midfielder Kevin Prince Boateng has thanked the club's followers for their support during his time with club.
Boateng, who was out of action after he was deemed surplus to requirement, terminated his contract with the German side, paving the way for him to join Italian giants AC Milan in the winter transfer window.
“I would like to thank you for all your support during my time at the club. We had some great times and some low moments but I will always remember you guys as loyal and crazy.”
“No matter what was said about me, I was always proud to play for and represent Schalke 04.”
“My experiences at the club has helped me in many ways. Thank you once again and all the best. Glück auf”, he said.
The 28-year-old has now become a free agent to play for any other club from 1st January 2016.
Boateng has been training with the Rossoneri and playing in friendly games for a couple of months in anticipation of a deal to return to AC Milan.
AC Milan sold Boateng to Schalke in 2013 for €10m and will now sign him for free.
Boateng played 60 matches for Schalke - 46 in the Bundesliga, 12 in European competitions and two in the DFB Cup. He scored seven goals in all matches for Schalke.
