Suspended General Secretary of the ruling NDC, Kofi Adams has challenged the leadership of the NDC to be fair and even handed in dealing with the supposed secrete tape linked to the party’s National Organizer, Yaw Boateng Gyan. Adams insists what is good for the goose is equally good for the gander and has asked the National executives of the ruling party to give the appropriate sanctions to their colleague. “I was not surprised because they planned to get me out of the party. I want to hear them speak the same thing they spoke when dealing with my case” Kofi stressed. He was speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Thursday. Kofi Adams was suspended from the party following a supposed secret tape recording in which he was alleged to be conspiring against the ruling party. The leaked tape with a voice purported to be that of Mr. Adams was heard saying he will do everything possible to prevent President Mills from securing the mandate of Ghanaians for a second term. Despite a strong denial that the voice on the tape was not his, Kofi Adams was asked by the party to step aside to enable the Disciplinary Committee investigate the matter. Now the party is caught in a similar situation and Mr. Adams maintains that the NDC’s integrity is reliant on the decision it takes on the matter. “If they want any credibility to still be given them as people of integrity to convince people to vote for the party, this is the time to speak” he said. The aide to the Rawlingses expressed shocked at the party’s argument that the tape involving Yaw Gyan was manipulated. “I thought these were the same people who never believed that a tape could be doctored. They said it is not possible to doctor a voice so they took a fast action against Kofi Adams. Now they are preaching doctoring of voices, Jesus Christ!!! What do they expect Ghanaians to take them for” he quizzed. He noted that the National executives must prove beyond reasonable doubt that he [Adams] was not ousted from the party because of his association with former President Jerry Rawlings. “They are being challenged as an executive to let people know that we are not running an animal farm party; we are running a party that believes in the right of all” he added. Kofi Adams said it will serve the NDC’s interest if it sets the records straight on the issue ahead of the December 7 general election.
