The Krowor constituency branch of the National Democratic Congress has dismissed scathing attacks on the Chief Executive for the Municipality.
It follows recent bad press about the MCE, Mr Daniel Amartey Mensah. Here is the full statement issued.
INCESSANT ATTACKS ON THE LEKMA MUNICIPAL CHIEF EXECUTIVE (MCE)
We, the Krowor Constituency (Nungua) branch of the NDC wish to respond to series of publications which continue to appear in the Enquirer Newspaper attacking the LEKMA MCE Mr. Seth Badu Tawiah with the objective of not only tarnishing his image but also to get him removed from office.
So far there have been seven of such publications on 17th January 2014, 3rd February 2014, 14th February 2014, 31st March 2014, 1st April 2014 and 4th April 2014 editions of the Enquirer.
We have noted these publications and wish to react because we thought, the former MCE Mr. Daniel Amartey Mensah and his clique who are behind these publications will see reason to desist from this diabolical act, however it appears to us that Mr. Amartey Mensah and his group thinks that the position of the MCE for LEKMA is his personal property, therefore he considers it illegal for any other person from Krowor to occupy it.
We want to point out as we have always stated that LEKMA comprises two constituencies and two traditional areas Krowor and Ledzokuku. Therefore we of Krowor have equal political, and legal right as well as access to that position just as LEDZOKUKU Constituency.
We wish to point out to Mr. Amartey Mensah and his group that if they think they are disgracing Mr. Badu Tawiah, they are rather hurting the party’s chances come 2016. And we think this is not the path to take by a true party man. They need to rethink their avowed game plan and agenda to get the current MCE removed from office within 6 months.
In our estimation, in his ambition to unseat the current Ledzokuku MP Mrs. Sena Okiti Dua, he thinks he should attack Mr. Badu Seth Tawiah, because of the cordial relationship between the Ledzokuku MP and the MCE.
In noting the above, certain questions beg for answers.
1. Why the Enquirer?
2. Why did Mr. Amartey Mensah visit the Assembly office when the MCE was in India for an official assignment?
3. Between Mr. Amartey Mensah and Hon. Seth Badu Tawiah who is more responsible and financially prudent?
The former MCE (Mr. Amartey Mensah) who stayed in a three (3) bedroom house at the cost of $500 a month 5 years ago or the current MCE who is living in an 6 bedroom house for GH¢1000 ($330) per month.
4. On the LEKMA GYEEDA rumpus, the MCE explained that he never found anything concerning GYEEDA properties in his handing over notes. Rather he had wind of sewing machines and other items belonging to GYEEDA being conveyed from the former MCE’s residence to that of a Deputy Programme Coordinator Mr. Ahinsah Laryea, who hails from his constituency, without even the knowledge of the substantive LEKMA GYEEDA Programme Coordinator Mr. Ben Norman.
It was the current MCE intervention to protect the Government property that Mr. Amartey Mensah is alleging to be witch hunting?
We pulse to ask again, which MCE worth his name will not work to protect state property in his jurisdiction? Why did Mr. Amartey choose to keep those properties in his house? Why didn’t he disclose those GYEEDA items in his handing over notes? Were the items given to him in his private capacity or as the then MCE?
How many items were brought to LEKMA? In any case is Mr. Amartey Mensah’s residence the store house for GYEEDA? An attempt by the current MCE to protect government's property is being termed WITCH HUNT by Mr. Amartey Mensah.
We expected The Enquirer Newspaper to have at least crosschecked some of the facts from the MCE. The 14th February 2014 edition of the paper suggests that the MCE who is the Head of the Municipal Security Committee is running away from the Nungua Police, how is that possible?
The MCE is accused of gifting out state lands on Monday 31st March 2014 edition of the Enquirer. How mischievous and disingenuous can Mr. Amartey be when he is fully aware of the full facts of the case. That this is a matter that the claimant of the land sent to court and the High Court gave judgment in his favour on 18th July 2013 in his time as MCE which LEKMA appealed to stay the execution and lost the case. That the non – compliance by the LEKMA to comply with the court order and issue the necessary permits to the claimant caused the MCE to be personally cited for contempt of Court on 18th March 2014? Which made the RCC and the Legal Consultants of LEKMA to advise that the court orders be compiled with?
We have decided to ignore other frivolous and malicious publication by Mr. Amartey Mensah because those issues are not worth our attention and for that matter the attention of the Honourable MCE, Seth Badu Tawiah who needs full concentration to deliver the Better Ghana for the good people of LEKMA.
We wish to state that the MCE will not be distracted from his vision of enhancing the development of the area and the Better Ghana Agenda.
a. He is an all inclusive leader and focused on the involvement of the people, the traditional authorities at the grass roots in his governance.
b. We applaud his bipartisan approach to matters in the Municipality.
c. We note with satisfaction that the street naming project is on course and the creation of access roads within the old Teshie and Nungua townships is not only courageous but bold initiative.
d. The recently commissioned computer laboratory at Dares Salaam, a suburb of Teshie and the Sick Bay provided at the LEKMA Cluster of Schools is a clear attestation of MCE’s commitment to the President’s vision of expanding infrastructure for the good people of Ghana.
In conclusion we wish to state that the former MCE should stop this pettiness and concentrate on his campaign to become the Regional Chairman of the party.
If he the ex – MCE was hounded just after 3 months in office would he have had the peace of mind to operate for 5 years? He should please stop behaving like a child whose playing toy has been taken from him. For it is easier to destroy than to build.
