Police in Kumasi have mounted a search for two armed car snatchers who shot and killed a 45-year-old driver Tuesday night at Mpatasie in Kumasi.
The deceased, Akwasi Owusu was shot at close range following a confrontation with the robbers in protest against an order for his brother to surrender his Mitsubishi pick-up truck.
He died on arrival at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
The robbers also attacked the owner of the vehicle and brother of the deceased, Osei Tutu, who is Sector Manager of Trans Royal Ghana Limited.
Mr. Osei told Nhyira FM he was on his way home from work when he stopped over at the store of the deceased brother for a short discussion.
Traumatized Mr. Osei said the robbers arrived after twenty minutes of his stopping at a spot near the Apostles Continuation Church and ordered him to surrender the vehicle with registration number GT 358-10.
His brother however, confronted the robbers and was shot at close range with a shot-gun.
The robbers bolted with a Toshiba Laptop, an unspecified amount of money, mobile phones and some documents.
Meanwhile, the Regional police CID has started investigations into the crime.
