Ghanaian goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey and his Portland Timbers side won the Major League Soccer Cup on Sunday night.
Kwarasey and his team made a great rise on their Western Conference table, and go through some scares in the knock rounds to win the Conference Championship and set up a final with Harrison Afful’s Columbus Crew SC.
Portland Timbers won the game against Columbus Crew SC at the MARFRE Stadium with the Ghanaian and his team mates scripting their names in the MLS club’s history with their first-ever MLS Cup under the tutelage of coach Caleb Porter.
Portland Timbers took an early lead in the game with Diego Valeri putting Adam Kwarasey’s side up in the first minute.
Timbers added a second six minutes later via Rodney Wallace with Harrison Afful’s Columbus Crew SC struggling to get back into the game.
Columbus Crew SC finally found their breakthrough with Kei Ansu Kamara scoring to pull one back before the first half break.
Crew SC had the best of chances to draw level in the second half but Harrison Afful’s chipped cross was wasted by Federico Higuain as Timbers took the winning medal with a 2-1 victory.
