Gideon Offei Duodoo, a 26-year-old music and information communication technology (ICT) teacher of Great Lamptey Mills School, has been arrested for allegedly raping a nine-year-old pupil of the school.Master Gideon is languishing in the cells of the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service for reportedly having a series of wild bouts of sex with the class four pupil at their school toilet when the school had closed.Briefing DAILY GUIDE, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit, Chief Inspector Irene Oppong, indicated that on 20th March 2010, the mother of the victim, (name withheld), noticed some changes in the way she walked.The mother interrogated the victim but she refused to tell the truth, according to Madam Oppong.“The mother also observed that the victim frequently urinated indiscriminately and she interrogated her for the second time with threats that she would take her to the hospital for medical check up.”Chief Inspector Irene Oppong averred that the victim then confessed that her music teacher had had a series of sexual intercourse with her at the school toilet.The DOVVSU official disclosed that the mother took the victim to the Achimota Hospital where it was confirmed that the victim had been defiled.“A report was lodged at the Tesaano Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit, whereupon Gideon Offei Duodoo was picked up to help the police in their investigations.”She stated that when the victim was interrogated by the police, she affirmed that the suspect had raped her and that he started having sex with her since September last year.Chief Inspector Irene Oppong intimated that the police had taken the victim through counselling and she is now doing well while investigation into the matter continues.Source: Daily Guide
