When the judicial committee meets tomorrow to begin investigations into the accommodation scandal involving the Commissioner of CHRAJ, it will be looking at possible cases of misbehavior and or incompetence against Lauretta Lamptey.
The committee would also be looking at whether the embattled CHRAJ boss is unable to perform her functions of the office arising out of infirmity of the body or mind, Ayikoi Otoo has said.
If she is found guilty by the committee, the Chief Justice would have to send a recommendation to the President for her removal.
Mrs Lamptey has been accused of grievous acts of financial impropriety arising out of her decision to stay in a hotel.
The CHRAJ boss is said to have paid some $5,000 as monthly rent on her plush AU Village apartment for 33 months while over GHS180,000 was being spent to renovate her official bungalow.
For a commission crying over limited funds to conduct investigations into cases of corruption and conflict of interest as well as human rights abuses, many critics said the amount spent on the Commissioner's rent was preposterous.
Three persons, two of whom are MPs filed a petition of misconduct against the CHRAJ boss.
A preliminary investigation done by the Chief Justice established a prima facie case against Mrs Lamptey which has necessitated a setting up of a five-member committee to investigate allegations of corruption and abuse of office against her.
Ayikoi Otoo told Joy News, Mrs Lamptey will now have the opportunity to clear herself of the allegations made against her.
He noted the prima facie case established initially against Mrs Lamptey was done without incorporating her views, adding she will now have a say in the allegations made against her.
