The Lawra District Assembly, has confirmed Mr. Samson Abu, the President’s nominee for the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area.All the 49 members of assembly voted for the nominee, an administrator at the Lawra District Hospital, at a special meeting held on Thursday at Lawra.Mr Abu called for sustainable peace in the area to enhance development and socio-economic growth of the people.He thanked President John Evans Atta Mills for selecting him to service his people.Mr. Abu appealed to the people to co-operate with him to enable him to work efficiently.Mr. Mahmud Khalid, Upper West Regional Minister, said the Lawra District, even though one of the oldest in the region, was deprived in terms of development.He commended the assembly for confirming the president’s nominee to spearhead the development of the district.Mr. Khalid said the NDC government would ensure equal implementation of development projects across the country to help change the living conditions of the people.He urged the people in the district to bury their political differences and support Mr. Abu to work for the development of the area.The confirmation of Mr. Abu brought to five the number of DCEs and Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) approved so far in the region.They were Mr. Bernard Puozuing, DCE for Jirapa, Mr. Clement Benin, DCE for Lambussie/Karni, Mr. Seidu Tingbani, DCE for Wa West and Mr. Duogo Yakubu, Wa MCE.Source: GNA
