There is a scramble for the nomination forms of the opposition New Patriotic Party in the Upper West region.
So far 24 persons, made up of lawyers, academics and businessmen are battling to pick up 10 slots available for next year’s parliamentary elections.
The ticket for the 11th constituency in the region is not yet available.
The second vice-chairman of the NPP is in the region, Hafiz Bin Salih, said “The Regional Executive in consultation with the general secretary have decided to defer the opening of nomination in the Nadowli/Kaleo constituency to September 2015.”
He told Myjoyonline.com, “The zeal and enthusiasm and caliber of persons who have picked up the nomination forms is simply amazing.”
The NPP is holding its parliamentary primaries across the country in June this year and the process in the Upper West Region is being closely watched.
This is because that is the only region in which the NPP has no single Parliamentarian.
All 11 seats are being held by the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The NPP lost the Wa East and Nandom seats - the only seats it held in the region - before the 2012 polls.
It will be seeking to reverse this embarrassing record in next year’s poll and the people in the list below will be leading the charge.
Below is the list of constituencies and their respective aspirants.
