The Mamponghene, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, has charged the Mampong Municipal Assembly to continue working for the progress of the district and the nation.
He commended the assembly for the manner in which it had administered the municipality, stressing that it was unlike some districts where there was infighting among assembly members.
Daasebre Osei Bonsu made the call when the executive committee of the assembly joined him and the chiefs and elders of the Mampong Traditional Area to celebrate the last Akwasidae of the year at the Amaniampong Palace in Asante-Mampong.
He urged the executive committee members to continue with the spirit of togetherness to enhance the rapid growth of the area.
He also commended the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Mampong and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for demonstrating political maturity by relegating their political affiliations to the background and working together for the development of the municipality.
The Mamponghene noted that such community spiritedness should be emulated by all.
He also thanked the chiefs and elders of the traditional area for their absolute support that had motivated him to exhibit his potential to the fullest.
He also commended the citizens of the town for their comportment.
Daasebre Osei Bonsu advised parents to ensure that their children were sent to school and urged them to give more attention to girl-child education, stressing that education was the best legacy parents could bequeath to their children to enable them to become responsible adults.
The MCE, for his part, commended the Mamponghene and the Queen, Nana Agyakoma Difie, for rallying behind the assembly and also providing good advice to him.
He noted that the assembly had provided many development projects for a number of communities and advised the people to exercise restraint and rally behind the assembly in its efforts at transforming the municipality into a showpiece in the country.
