A fifty-eight year old teacher Victor Hotor, who allegedly defiled two girls and indecently assaulted another was on Tuesday remanded into police custody by an Accra Circuit Court.
Hotor, ex-prison officer, pleaded not guilty. He is to reappear on March 4.
Presenting the facts of the case, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) George Abavelim said the complainants are parents of the victims and the accused is also a class teacher of the victims who are all 8 years old each.
Prosecution said at about a month ago, Hotor applied to teach at a school at Adenta, in Accra.
Two months after his appointment, he gave assignments on the black board and invited the victims to the rear of the classroom where he had allocated one desk to himself.
One after the other, he inserted his fingers into their private parts. Not satisfied, after close of school, the accused took two of the victims into the bush, 400 meters away from the school.
Prosecution said in the bush, Hotor cut branches of neem tree and laid them on the ground and one after the other, he undressed and defiled them.
The prosecutor said, he did that to the victims on several occasions and warned them not tell anyone about their ordeal else he would beat them in class.
On one occasion, a student of the school spotted Hotor and the two victims in the bush and informed the school authorities.
During interrogation by the school authorities, the victims confessed and revealed their ordeal.
The parents of the victim heard about it and reported the matter to the police and Hotor was arrested.
The victims were sent to the hospital and it was confirmed that the victims were sexually assaulted.
