A 31-year-old mechanic, Akpene Mensah, has been arrested by the police for attempting to commit suicide.
His reason? He was suspicions of his wife having an affair.
Superintendent S.K. Tetteh, Community One District Police Commander, said that on Saturday, Mensah’s wife reported to the police that she returned home from town to find Mensah attempting to hang himself with a belt in their bedroom at Community One, site one.
She raised the alarm and neighbours helped to rescue him.
Mensah, who was arrested by police, said in his caution statement that he was fed up with life as he could no longer live with an unfaithful wife.
Mensah said on the day in question, he returned from work to find that his wife had gone out.
He claimed that he only pretended to be committing suicide because he wanted to see how she would behave.
Supt. Tetteh said Mensah has been charged with attempted suicide and will be arraigned before court soon.
