The Member of Parliament for Manhyia North in the Ashanti region, Collins Owusu Amankwah, says government's silence on the budget for the celebration of the late president Mills' first year anniversary raises concern about transparency.
Whiles there is a presidential committee organizing the event, the majority leader in parliament Dr. Benjamin Kunbour last Friday told the house there is no budget backing the celebration.
He said the family of the late president were solely funding the programme.
But Collins Amankwah told Joy News insisted that for the sake of transparency, government must make public the budget supporting the event.
"...I suspect that they are not telling us the truth. They ought to be transparent and I suspect that look, something fishy is going on..."
