The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has announced that the Minerals Development Fund (MDF) is conducting a comprehensive feasibility study into local poultry feed production as part of efforts to support the government’s 'Nkokɔ Nketenkete' Programme.
Speaking during the Government Accountability Series at the Jubilee House on Wednesday, July 23, the Minister said the initiative is aimed at reducing Ghana’s dependence on imported feed and strengthening the country’s food security.
“Under the auspices of the Ministry, the MDF is conducting a comprehensive feasibility study for poultry feed production to complement the government’s 'Nkokɔ Nketenkete' Programme,” he stated.
He explained that the project forms part of a broader strategy to support national import substitution policies and encourage domestic agricultural production.
“This initiative will provide viable alternatives to imported feed products, create employment opportunities for the youth, support national food security objectives, and advance import substitution strategies,” the Minister added.
Mr Buah further noted that the MDF continues to roll out strategic development projects across mining communities to ensure residents benefit meaningfully from Ghana’s natural resource wealth.
“The Minerals Development Fund remains committed to fostering sustainable development in mining communities,” he emphasised.
