Ghanaian musician and spoken word artiste, Megborna is out to address the challenges citizens are subjected to by political leadership.
The artiste makes his unbiased commentary on bad governance via his song titled, ‘Basaa’.
The 3:40 minute song is reflective of the current state of the country which many have expressed worry about by describing the situation as Basaa – a Twi word which loosely translates into confusion.
On the song, the artist’s silver voice is laced over heavy arrangements of percussions and kicks with a repetitive base drop.

With harmonizing vocal backings and a faint piano in rhythm to African instruments, Basaa is in a musical style similar to that of Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti with a social commentary approach of High life legend, Ebo Taylor.
The artiste hails from Anloga in the Volta Region.
Growing up in the home of his grandfather, a founding father of one of Anloga’s most prominent music, dancing and drumming ensembles, Victoria, Megborna has always been embedded within the rich musical culture of the Anlos.
Through the years, Megborna navigated the waters of spoken word, rap and beatbox, harnessing his lyrical skills and a traditional ear to his approach to sound.
Drawing inspiration from Akpalu, Megborna’s experimental approach to music and sound is born out of his belief that his songs and words are one.
A conviction heavily influenced by Hakpanya, an all-encompassing name used for lyrics and poetry, among the Ewes.
The contemporary poet, Megborna’s debut album was AGOO - Silver Words released back in 2017.
He is a recipient of numerous awards, including two awards in spoken word from the Ghana Association of Writers (GAW).
