Right Reverend Benjamin Francis Quashie, Anglican Bishop of Koforidua Diocese, has urged members of political parties in the country to respect each other, especially during electioneering campaign in the 2008 Election. He urged Ghanaians to extend to each other the type of compassion, respect and honour they demonstrated during the floods that affected the Northern, Western and other parts of the country in 2007. Rt. Rev Quashie said these in a New Year message released to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Koforidua on Monday. He said the events of 2007 had become history and would be reckoned by people who would regard the year as successful while others would wish that the year was never remembered because of the hard times they went through. Bishop Quashie said 2007 began with power rationing in the country, which slowed down businesses and later in the year, the world witnessed high increase in the prices of crude oil that seriously affected the country's economy. He noted that despite those difficulties, the country's economy did not grind to a halt and commended the Government for pursuing prudent policies that resulted in the economic achievements in 2007. Bishop Quashie said despite whatever situation that people went through last year, it was important for individuals and the country to give thanks to God for protecting and guiding the nation and it's leaders.
