Barcelona's Lionel Messi voted Best International Athlete and LA Galaxy's David Beckham wins Best MLS Player at the 2012 ESPYBarcelona sensation Lionel Messi has been voted the Best International Athlete in last night's 2012 ESPY Awards ceremony in Los Angeles.The 25-year-old Argentine supremo held off competition from a host of the world's biggest sports stars from a range of different fields including Serbian tennis ace Novak Djokovic, LPGA Championship winner Yani Tseng, as well as Real Madrid rival Cristiano Ronaldo.Messi will have to make room in his already bursting trophy cabinet after scooping his latest award - which is recognition for his record-breaking season at Camp Nou in 2011-12.The pint-sized magician scored 50 goals in La Liga, and 73 goals in total last campaign, with 29 assists in all competitions to boot.
